It accepts text, image, and video inputs and carries a 256K token context window for handling extensive documents and conversations. The model supports native function calling, structured output, configurable thinking modes for step-by-step reasoning, and multilingual understanding across more than 140 languages. Built for both complex reasoning and local execution, Gemma 4 31B IT handles coding, multimodal analysis, and agent-driven tasks, while a hybrid attention design keeps long-context processing efficient. Instruction tuning improves natural conversation and adherence to system prompts. Released April 2, 2026, under the Apache 2.0 license.
